COVID-19 PROTOCOL: As per district protocol, all students and staff must complete the screening tool daily, prior to attending school, regardless of their vaccination status. Click to access the screening tool: COVID 19 SELF SCREENING

EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM: We are partnering with the Royal Ottawa to offer their Early Intervention program (EIP) for interested GMS students (age 12 and up). EIP delivers a mental wellness program in an ongoing group format. This program targets students who are at risk for early-onset mental health issues, including anxiety and stress management. All grade 7 and 8 classes were presented with an overview of the Early Intervention Program this week, and information on how to sign up. The process involves a self-referral, a screening, and a parent consent form. Please reach out to Mrs. Vincent at if you have any questions about the EIP Healthy Lifestyles program.

OPH VACCINATION CLINIC: Ottawa Public Health (OPH) will be conducting an in-school vaccination clinic at GMS on Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29. These clinics will provide students in Grades 7 and 8 (students born in 2008 and 2009) with three vaccinations: Hepatitis B (HB), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and Meningococcal. A consent form, which needs to be signed in order for students to receive these vaccines, will be sent home one week before the clinic. Reminder info.

COVID-19 PROTOCOL: As per the district protocol, all students and staff are to masked at all times while inside the building and on the school bus, with the exception of while eating. Please refer to the district's webpage for most up to date information about how COVID-19 is being addressed in schools.

SCHOOL COUNCIL: Our next School Council meeting of the school year will be virtual, as per COVID protocols, and is scheduled for Tuesday, November 30 at 6:30 pm. The link to join the meeting will be shared closer to the date.

TRANSPORTATION PLAN: Click here to review the pick up and drop off plan.
Please note that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD STUDENTS BE DROPPED OFF ON HUNTLEY ROAD. It is a 70 km/h zone in front of our school, and without any sidewalks it is not safe for pedestrian traffic. We would also ask that everyone respect the neighbouring driveways and do not block our neighbours access to their homes.

HOMEWORK HELP: See the attached flyer for information about free virtual homework help for OCDSB students grades 7 and up: FALL TUTORING

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has developed a common list of recommended personal use items for students in grades 6-8. Additionally, students are asked to bring a full water bottle to school daily as the regular water fountains will not be used for drinking purposes. There will be two fill-up stations available.

STUDENT HANDBOOK: Click on the link to check out the student handbook.

LATE ARRIVAL: If you are late arriving at school (after 7:55 AM), your child must come through the main office. Students should NOT wander to the back of the school grounds as doors are locked and supervision ceases at the 7:55 AM bell.

STUDENT SUCCESS SITE:  The GMS Guidance Team is here to help. Click on the link to access the Student Success website. Fill out the Guidance Form if you would like to speak to an adult about social, personal or academic concerns.

VIRTUAL LIBRARY: Mrs. Judd has created a website for families to access a wide variety of online resources. Please take a moment to check it out: Virtual Library
