Principal Message - Oct 3, 2025

October 3rd

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We held two fire drills this week.  Both went extremely well.  Students and staff did a wonderful job of getting to their assigned locations and doublechecking that everyone was present.  Well done everyone.  As you know, we are very fortunate at GMS to have such a high caliber team of educators who work tirelessly to create engaging quality programs and activities for our learners.  This Sunday is World Teachers' Day.  We wish our educators a Happy World Teachers’ Day and thank them for their dedicated services.

Our Terry Fox campaign is ending over the weekend, and we will report the final results to the GMS community on Monday. We have already passed the first benchmark goal, and we are close to reaching the second. Thank you to all students and staff who participated in the Terry Fox Run on Wednesday. The weather was gorgeous, and it was a very positive and spirited experience. If you would still like to donate, you can online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/GoulbournMSStittsville

Ottawa Public Health will be running a vaccination clinic on Tuesday October 7, 2025, and Wednesday April 15, 2026 for our grade 7 students.  Consent forms were sent home with students last week.  Please complete and return the consent forms as soon as possible.

They have asked that on the day of the school clinic, your child should:

Eat a good breakfast

Bring an extra juice or snack to school.

Wear short sleeves or a loose shirt so that the upper arm can be exposed easily, without undressing.

We are excited to share that our Grade 7 and 8 students are being offered the opportunity to attend a presentation on October 17th @ 11:00 am.

This presentation will introduce the students to a cooperative program between the Ottawa Carleton District School Board and the Royal Mental Health - Care and Research team. The EIP program is a mental wellness program as outlined below.  For more info, please click here

Volunteering at GMS this year?

This year, it is mandatory that all OCDSB volunteers have an up to date Vulnerable Sector Police Check.  Volunteers will therefore need to have a current Police Check before they can volunteer for possible classroom and trips / activities.

If you are interested in volunteering please let us know through this form.

We appreciate the time and support our volunteers give our school. You all make a terrific school even better!

H. Jamal,

Principal, Goulbourn M.S
