A MESSAGE FROM MRS EDDY:  Here we are in the last week of May! Time has gone so fast, yet there is still much to do before we finish school for the year!

ACCESS TO SCHOOLS:  We have learned that the OCDSB has developed safety protocols which will allow staff and students access to the school. As you can imagine coordinating this for 430 families is a challenging process. We will be connecting with families in the next week or so to determine who needs to access the school and what they need to retrieve from the building. We are hoping to be able to have a plan in place to grant access for those that need it by mid-June. We hope to have all of the cheques for refunds at that time as well.
GRADE 8 CONSENT:  Thank you to those families who have sent in the consent for names and photos to be used in our video. If you have not yet had an opportunity to send in the consent form, please do take a moment to do so. Unfortunately, if we do not receive the consent form for your child, we will not be able to include them in the video.  CONSENT

MINI-ENRICHMENT:All families who signed up for mini-enrichment have now been refunded (if they paid by cheque, their cheque was not cashed; if they paid using SchoolCashNet, the payment was reversed; if they changed their credit card since paying, they will receive a cheque when we return and have been notified).

LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA FUNDRAISER:  Unfortunately, Council has had to cancel the Little Caesar’s Pizza Kit fundraiser. If you placed an order, no cheques will be cashed and will be returned to you once we are able to get them from the school.

HOT LUNCHES:  Any missed hot lunches will also be refunded. Council is waiting to see if we will be returning to school in June before processing refunds. Some families have reached out offering to donate the money they would be getting back to the school. As a school, we feel it would be best to offer those donations to the Food Bank, as we know many food banks are in desperate need of support at this time. If you would like to donate any refund you might be getting from Hot Lunches to the Food Bank, please do let us know. If we do not hear from you, Council will be sending your family a cheque to reimburse you for the missed lunches.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION: The Ministry recently provided more details about what assessment would look like for students during this unique period of learning. A more fulsome explanation can be found here.

SUMMER SCHOOL:  OCDSB summer school programs information can be found at: 2020 SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS. If you are interested in registering your child for summer school, please send an email to Mrs Kondric at

VIRTUAL LIBRARY:  Mrs. Judd has spent the past several weeks creating a website for families to access a wide variety of online resources. Please take a moment to check it out: Virtual Library

OSTA:  OSTA is working with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) and Ottawa Public Health (OPH) to develop a safe plan for bused students for the 2020/21 school year. We thank you for your patience as we navigate these uncertain times and will continue to update parents throughout the summer and beginning of the school year.

NEW STITTSVILLE SCHOOL:  Following the Ministry of Education announcement of capital funding in March 2018, the Stittsville Community will be welcoming a new secondary school (1,353 pupil places) to serve grade 7-12 students in the area. The new school will be located at the southwest corner of Robert Grant Avenue and Cope Drive. The opening date for the school is currently scheduled for September 2022.
A local study working group was formed in the Fall of 2019 in order to consider possible attendance boundaries, the school's opening grade structure, and also other associated changes. The working group has now completed its part of the process, and supports moving forward to the next stage of the study process, public consultation which will commence on 11 May 2020.

Given the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, a standard format Public Consultation Meeting held in a school setting is not possible. An alternate format is therefore being employed. Public consultation will be done virtually. Here’s how: Beginning May 11th, 2020 visit to watch the video and view the draft staff recommendation report, FAQ updates, and other important information.

You can then provide feedback in two ways:

1. Email us at
2. Take part in the Thoughtexchange with the link provided on the webpage.

We welcome your feedback and questions regarding the draft staff recommendations, and encourage you to participate in this important consultation. We would, however, appreciate receiving any input by 10 June 2020. Your input will be reviewed by staff and will help inform the final staff recommendation report scheduled to be presented to Board at its meeting of 22 June 2020, for final study decisions.
