WEB ORIENTATION for all new Greyhounds
August 29th from 8-12
Please gather outside the school and our Grade 8 WEB Leaders will welcome you into the school at 8:00!
Wear comfortable clothing. If you bring a water bottle, please ensure it is labelled. Otherwise we recommend you leave all other personal belongings at home.
(Please note the date change. The correct date is August 29th).

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has developed a common list of recommended personal use items for students in grades JK-3 and grades 4-8. This list of supplies is strictly voluntary; parents/guardians are not required to purchase or provide the items listed. As a result, it is a parent/guardian’s choice to send the following items for use by their child for the first day of school in September.
Please note that at GMS, not all supplies on this may be required- teachers will give students specific needs in the first week.

12 pencils
2 erasers (preferably white)
1 metric ruler
1 pair of blunt scissors
2 glue sticks
3 ballpoint pens
1 package of coloured pencils
2 packages of 3-hole lined refill paper
6 duotangs
1 package of coloured markers
1 calculator
6 lined notebooks
1 geometry set
2 highlighters
3 binders
binder dividers

  • One change we will be making next year is combining our Middle Immersion and Early Immersion students in grades 7 and 8. We have been looking at this for some time, and in consultation with Curriculum Services and other schools who have adopted this model, we believe this change will be a positive one for our students. By combining the 2 programs, we are able to create more balanced classes in terms of numbers and needs. We believe this will further enhance the in class experience of our students as they continue to refine their skills with communication and collaboration.
  • Each year we collect voluntary student fes from students. Those fees are used to support programming and events within the school community for a students. For an outline of how the money was spent this year, click on the link. If you have any questions, please do let us know.  Student fees REPORT 2019.pdf
