  • Our Play Your Part Leaders are busy getting their next fundraiser set up. They will be selling tickets for students to enter their names into a draw to Pie A Teacher (or Principal). Tickets will be sold over the next 2 weeks. 25 cents a ticket or 5 for $1.00. There will also be a limited number of golden tickets sold for $15. The Golden Ticket will guarantee you are able to pie the staff member of your choice!
  • The Second Cycle of grade 7 Immunizations will be held on June 10, 11 and 12 in the library.
  • As we move into the last few days of this school year, we are noticing that students are getting restless and are requiring a significant number of reminders regarding appropriate interactions and behaviour at school. Please take a moment to review our Student Handbook that was sent home in September. You can also find another copy linked below for reference. Specific reminders about our expectations around respectful interactions, physical play and cell phone use would be most appreciated.
  • We are currently preparing for the upcoming school year. One change we will be making is combining our Middle Immersion and Early Immersion students in grades 7 and 8. We have been looking at this for some time, and in consultation with Curriculum Services and other schools who have adopted this model, we believe this change will be a positive one for our students. By combining the 2 programs, we are able to create more balanced classes in terms of numbers and needs. We believe this will further enhance the in class experience of our students as they continue to refine their skills with communication and collaboration.
  • As you may remember, we have been looking at the past practice of year end awards. Throughout the year, we have been discussing this with staff, parents and students. We have also been looking at the practices of other schools in the OCDSB. We recognize that there are pros and cons to both sides of the discussion, and that there are strong opinions on both sides. After much deliberation, we have opted to stop the practice of giving individual awards to students. We truly believe that each student brings something unique and valuable to our community, and that is what needs to be celebrated at the end of the year. Awards tend to celebrate an outcome, but the journey is not necessarily reflected. We want our end of the year events to celebrate the journey for all students equitably. This change will not affect honour roll or honour roll society. We will also be expanding the different labels that recognize student contributions to our community which are put on the certificate students receive at the Leaving Ceremony.
  • Each year we collect voluntary student fees from students. Those fees are used to support programming and events within the school community for a students.
