Weekly Updates from the Principal - January 10, 2025

Principal’s Weekly Message - January 10, 2025

Greetings!

This first week back after the two week break has seen a flurry of learning and extra-curricular activities.

RETURNING TO LEARNING assembly. First thing Tuesday morning, we held a welcome back assembly in the gym. It was a special treat to see all the smiling faces of students, and staff too!

Here are a few of the key points and big ideas from the assembly that we will revisit in many ways in the weeks to come:

Ready! - Be prepared. Gather yourself. Gather your things

Set! - Be where you need to be

Go! - Do what you need to do to feel that you’re learning and show that you’re learning.

Respectful Conduct  I am worthy. Through my words and actions, I show you that you are worthy

Sticks and stones can break my bones, and words can break my heart. (We often cannot see the impact of our words. People may present a brave face, but are simply hiding their pain.)

Freedom, trust and responsibility (Consider who is responsible for my actions? How do others know that they can trust me? How do my trustworthiness and sense of responsibility affect my opportunities and freedom?)

GMS News...Hot off the press!

SPORTS Our boys and girls volleyball teams experienced intense inter school competition this week. While they did not win in their divisions, they players emerged champions in the eyes of their coaches for their stellar effort and teamwork. They won the character gold medal. Many thanks to Mrs. Mullins and Mr. Derouin for their enthusiastic coaching. The competitive juices are still flowing. Rumour has it that the girls team is eyeing a rematch against the staff. Stay tuned!
