Weekly Message from Principal - May 16, 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we enjoy more sunny days at this time of year, I just want to take this opportunity to remind parents that it is important for students to wear scent free sunscreen. This helps protect them from the sun and also people in the school who are allergic to scents. Of course, hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing are also encouraged.
OSTA
A number of bus cancellations occurred this week. We recommend parents and guardians subscribe to OSTA notifications to stay informed of any transportation changes. Please visit www.ottawaschoolbus.ca and select subscribe to be added to the notifications list for Goulbourn MS.
Track & Field
We have a wonderful Track and Field day lined up for our students next week. Please click here for more information. Our wonderful School Council will be hosting a canteen. They will have a number of items available from $1-3. Special thanks to our dedicated staff who have spent numerous days planning for the event and facilitating the different events during the Track & Field Day.
Spring Arts Concert
Our Spring Arts Concert will be held next week on Thursday, May 22nd, at 7:00 pm. Please join us to celebrate the musical and artistic talents of our GMS students.
EQAO
Our grade 6 students will be writing their provincial assessment test from May 27 to May 30th. The 30th will be used only if necessary. It is important to schedule any appointments around these dates if possible. Also, a good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to prepare for this assessment. Good luck to all of our grade 6 learners as they approach these assessments.
Grade 8 Trip
Grade 8 students are reminded that their completed field trip form for their visit to South Carleton High School is due on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Freezie Fridays
Freezie Fridays: Student Council is selling jumbo freezies for $2.00 every Friday throughout the month of May to fundraise for fun end-of-year student social events at GMS. Thank you to the GMS community for supporting our first three Freezie Fridays. Two more to go! Jumbo freezies are $2 each.
Baseball Bats
Students are not permitted to bring a baseball bat to school to use during recess. Those sports are played during gym and DPA under close supervision.
