Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the school year rapidly draws to a close with only one week remaining, I want to share some important staffing updates for the new school year.

It is with incredible sadness that I announce the retirement of Mrs. Friesen.  She has been a solid foundation of our school over many years. 

We will also be saying goodbye to Mr. Derouin, Mrs. Cavell, and Mr. Wing due to reductions in our French and Educational Assistant staffing allotments.  In addition, Mrs. Chugh and Mrs. Helmer will be leaving us as their terms conclude.  Many of you have had the opportunity to work with all of these super quality people and educators . As such, you all know that each of them have made many significant contributions to our entire school community.  They will all be deeply missed by staff, students, and parents.  We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.

We are pleased to welcome back Mr. Beach and Mr. Cole, both of whom bring considerable experience and valuable understanding of our school.  Ms. Montiel will also be joining us, bringing relevant teaching experience to her new teaching assignment at GMS.

During the last school year, we installed air conditioners in almost all classrooms currently in use, especially those classrooms on the south side that get very hot. We've also set up a schedule for teachers to use the library if needed as it is also air-conditioned. It's important for students to wear scent-free sunscreen. This not only protects them from the sun but also helps those in the school with scent allergies. Hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing are also encouraged.
